I Am a Soldier
I’m a soldier in the United States Army, fighting
for the country I live in. I’m just doing a job,
just a little harder than a local salesman, waiter or lawyer.
There’s a certain mentality that you have to have
to do this and I am glad I have it. I sit here,
in the middle of the desert, wondering, thinking
why I do this. It’s for my friends, the people I hang
and chill with. For my family, the people that are
here for me, no matter what and for every other person—
just the average “Joe,” to keep them safe. There’s no more
to say except don’t worry about me. I ‘ll be safe. I am trained
for this. I ‘am loyal to my duty as a soldier.
Sgt. Kenneth R. Jones, married to Casey and the proud step-parent of Makayla and parent of Wesley, had two tours in Iraq and was then medically discharged December 2007, as an E-6 Sergeant from the Army from injuries caused by a motorcycle accident. “A fine soldier he will always be.”
